There are only a few days left in our week of fasting.  I want to encourage you to stay strong in your commitment to fast and keep spending time in prayer.  You got this!!!

As you seek the Lord let me remind you about another truth that will have significant impact on your prayer life.  God’s will matters.  When we pray, we need to make sure our prayers are in line with the heart of God.  As Jesus was teaching His disciples He directed them to pray, ”Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” John taught the same thing in the following verse:

1 John 5:14-15

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

What a great word of encouragement for us.  When we are praying the will of God about a specific situation we can pray with confidence that He is not only hearing us but will answer our prayers.

Jesus not only taught this truth to His disciples but He practiced it as well.  Look at how He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane.

Luke 22:42

“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”

It is so crucial for us to realize that we need to be praying according to God’s will and not our own.   It makes all the difference.
